Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder which manifests itself through repetitive behaviours a person feels compelled to do alongside uncontrollable, unwanted thoughts. An obsession is a thought which is involuntary and repeatedly recurs whilst a compulsion is a behaviour a person feels compelled to repeatedly act out. Often, compulsions can be acted out in an attempt to silence obsessions. Compulsions can grow increasingly demanding, which leads to greater feelings of anxiety if the compulsion is not performed.

Brideswell Counselling and Psychotherapy provides effective treatments through counselling, psychotherapy or cognitive behavioural therapy to deliver long-term solutions for managing your OCD. No individual is the same and as such, therefore there is no ‘one size fits all’ treatment. We work with each person we see on an individual basis in order to determine a treatment that will be effective for them. OCD can be a consuming disorder but there are treatment options available.

If you are suffering from any the symptoms of OCD contact Brideswell Counselling and Psychotherapy today to begin working towards a practical solution.
